Things seem to be moving a little slower around here lately. Between having another little person to care for and so much of what I'm doing, being "more of the same"… Chicken still sitting on eggs, Garden still getting planted, seedlings still growing on the plant stands, and not a lot of knitting, crafting, cooking, outing time, I'm wondering if I'm boring you. I haven't had many comments lately so sometimes I wonder if I'm just typing to myself.
I guess, if I am, that's fine, since I really like writing daily. I think it's a good exercise for the mind, as well as being such a nice reminder of my days. They seem to go so fast, and run into each other, that it's nice to remember what the days have really been like and what I've done to fill them.
So, if you're out there, I'd love to hear it. Maybe tell me what you like the best of the kinds of things I post. I post a lot of various things, crafting, gardening, eating local, political concerns (especially concerning food), family life/babies, local farm news, poultry…lots of different things…this is what the "blog books" say not to do. They say stick to one thing or a couple things so your readers want to hear everything, instead of coming and finding stuff they don't care about…hmmm. That's not how I read. I love blogs with a nice variety, especially when the variety is spread between things I'm jazzed about, and things I'm unfamiliar with. I like to widen my horizons, so to speak.
Okay, so go ahead, please tell me what you like to read about here.
I'll leave you with what I did today…planted beets and lettuce between the lovely garlic rows. We are trying to use the space more efficiently this year, as we want so much more from our garden, and we can't expand it…it's the whole front yard already. So we are putting smallish things in between other smallish things to maximize the space. We are starting to put the mulch hay down, which you can see on the left. We are going to mulch everything, as the plants come up…and feed the inevitable slugs to the chickens. They will be loving us, and in turn giving us fabulously rich, protein laden eggs!
I’m still here in fact I check in daily. I haven’t commented because I don’t have much to say on Chickens as much as I love seeing their pics and hearing about them. I love that you are so varied in your blogging, I never knew anything about chickens and not much about gardening till I starting reading your blog. Truth is I started my first garden right along with you which I loved cause I didn’t feel like I was so far behind with the whole going green thing.
I don’t know if you’ve seen any of my updates on FB but we are now expecting #5 sometime around Christmas. SO all your blogging about diapers has been a God send. I am starting to make soakers already, I have 2 down and small NB size (although I can’t quite remember just how small new babies are since it’s been 2 years since I’ve held one of my own). I am starting to collect fabric for making the diapers themselves. I haven’t decided totally if I’m going to make all of them or use flat folds too. I’m glad I have 8 months to figure it out and get everyones opinions.
Okay so there it is, I’ve commented and I am still here with you on the complete opposite side of the country.
Hi~
I can not believe I havent seen or talked with you in what I am figuring is months. But I feel I am keeping up with you π
I see your family stroll by and even get to chat with them on some days.
We really need to get together soon…I would love to catch up with you ‘live’.

I love reading your blog daily. Ecclectic entries are the best! I am remembering how little I could get done and how emotional the first few months with a baby are. I, too, spent many an hour just bonding. I loved the sling and babywearing. I’ve nearly forgotten that time and now it is all fresh in my mind when reading your blog. Thanks!
Your blog has inspired a homeschool project for my family. My 2nd & 8th graders are each doing a journal in power point for each day with a photo. I hope today’s photo comes out…we just snapped one of a doe and her year old son wandering through the yard. My youngest son is very interested in writing (via dictation) what each photo is about. You are not alone!

Oh, you sweet thing! The title of your post sounded so forlorn! I hope you are getting enough rest. I check your blog every day and just love peeking in on one of my favorite families. I especially like blogs that reflect a person’s life – I feel that’s the way I blog too, although mine is more by the seat of my pants when the mood strikes style. I think maybe because you post so often, I feel like if I comment on each one you’d think I was stalking you. Hee hee!!! π Keep up the good work. I love your blog.
I enjoy your blog very much. You seem to live the life I would like to live, but can’t. Your life seems ‘simple’-I mean that as an extreme compliment! Much like the way my father grew up-I wish I could give that to my children.
I do check in just about everyday. I think your blog is very interesting just the way it is. I read lots of them, and I like that yours is pretty diverse. So, you are not alone, I just don’t comment a lot! And like you said, how wonderful to have a record for yourself and your children of daily life!
I’m here. New reader (suggested by my google reader LOL). I find it very inspiring that despite having a wee one. You manage to post everyday and DO things everyday.
I’m lucky if I remember to post once a week!
All your various things are up my alley, we have chickens, a garden, a ton of kids. We homeschool and I’m a Celiac, so some of my interests are different, but we are alike enough that I find you interesting. Thanks for asking!
I’m still here, just 8 months pregnant, cleaning uncontrollably and getting less and less computer time. You are doing great.
I read every day and love to see pictures of you guys, the kids are beautiful. Heather’s 4th is due any day now. Can’t wait to see you all in July
Oh I’m reading as well! Everyday I check into to see what’s going on in your world. I also love all the varied topics. I try to send people over to your blog as much as I can. I don’t get much blog love either, so I know how you feel!

(and if anyone wants to give me blog love, you know I’ll appreciate it!)

I came across your blog a few days ago and I plan on checking it regularly. We have a lot in common–cloth diapering, knitting, sewing, gardening…your blog is kind of a one-stop shop for all of my interests!
Oh, I wanted to comment on something from a few days ago–breast pads–have you tried LilyPads? They’re silicone (or something like it) so they actually stop milk from leaking rather than absorb leaks. I was skeptical about them with my first child, but my second is almost 6 months old and I’ve used them from day one. Well worth the price!
Hey Amy, Love your blog and the variety of topics you write about. Keep up the great work!
Thank you to everyone who responded!
Jennifer, I’m glad you like the variety. Thank you!
Meghan, Someone at a mom’s group I go to mentioned them. I’ll have to look into them. Thank you!!
Virginia! Thank you for the cross blog traffic. I send ’em your way too! I am excited about the new season of blogging we are entering!
Robbie, so nice to hear from you. I am glad you enjoy the blog and send Heather my best. I hope she has a lovely pregnancy! We are excited about the whole crew being here on the 4th!
Christine, bless your heart! Take care, and I hope that it’s smooth sailing from here on in!!
Meredith, that is very cool about Google Reader. I’m glad you came by and very excited you found my ramblings worth returning for! Thank you! The homeschooling is coming, my oldest daughter is 2 1/2 so I don’t really talk about what we do as “home schooling” yet, but that will come. I do have a VERY active and supportive husband so that affords me a bit more free time than a wee one and a toddler sounds like it would. I’m glad you like my eclectic mix.
Tina, thank you for the kind words about my life. I do like what we are doing and I find peace in the work we do. I think we are doing a lot of things the way my father grew up, too, and even in the same town. Believe me, I didn’t always value this kind of life, but I’m thankful to be able to make these changes. I’m also glad it is touching you in some way. Thank you!
Hilaree, you are the sweet thing, worrying about a new mama and her emotions π I’m not feeling forlorn, but wondering if I was being a silly girl thinking she was writing with an audience to find out she was writing to herself! Stalk away π
Rachel, thank you for the encouraging comment! I’m so glad you were inspired to incorporate this sort of thing into your homeschooling! Very cool. I think I find blogging to be helping my mama emotions, which is good. With my first I had some serious baby blues, that certainly bordered on, if not dove into depression, so getting to “talk” to adults everyday I think is helpful. Having a focus on what I did each day is too. This time around my emotions are much more where they should be. I love the snuggle/baby wearing I’ve been able to do with this one too!
Andrea, yes we need to catch up. I might even have an eggplant seedling or two to share, if they keep growing like they are, so far. I’m excited that so many germinated!
Congratulations Jennifer! I did see that and was happy for you! I hope the nausea subsides for you soon. I’m glad you like the chicken stuff and my learning things has helped you to learn things too. That is very encouraging. I try to post what doesn’t work, too, because often we can learn as much from that as we can from what does work. I hope your garden does great things this year!
Again, thank you all for commenting, the feedback was wonderful!!
