You rock! My little girl is loving these (me too)!
I look forward to trying this, you are so nice to share your method with us!
I finished a dress for my little girl for Easter. I can’t wait to post some pics for you, it was so much easier than than I thought it would be. I already went out and bought enough fabric for three more summer dresses and some to make her a winter one. (I am not however a fan of making my own bias tape but I did it) Thank you so much for the instructions.
I love your wrap dress. I’m so new to sewing and very afraid of making anything that is not a square. Where can I find a pattern for a wrap dress? I really thank you for the tutorial, now I just need a pattern.
Therisa, There is no real easy way to explain how to measure for the pattern. What I recommend is that you take dress you have that fits well, it should have a fairly full skirt to it. Then lay it down and copy it. Take that outline, cut it out. Then cut out two more. On the other two, cut the left strap off of one, and the right off of the other. Those will be the fronts, and the original will be the back. They should all line up with the shoulders and the hem, if you do it that way. If you are very nervous, try making one out of muslin (99cents a most Joann’s) first. I wouldn’t bother with the bias tape for the muslin version, but follow all the other directions and try it on to see if it fits. Then you can adjust from there. I hope that makes sense and is easy enough to follow.
I’m working on the tutorial for the skirt I made, and posted about, a couple days ago. That one will have the instructions on how to create the actual pattern. So if the dress is overwhelming, you can wait for the skirt tutorial.
With any new crafting/art adventure, you just have to take risks. Get some cheapo fabric and push your limits. You’ll be out a couple bucks at worst and at best you’ll have a great pattern for some new summer dresses! Good luck, and have fun!!!
Hey, thanks so much for the directions. My head is swirling now. But, I will give it a try.

I have a long sleeved wrap top that I want to make for myself, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to make it reversible.
I looked around online and found your post — thank you for posting the tutorial and all the great pictures!
At the step, “Lay one on top of the other, and stitch inside
and outside together at arm holes, with right
sides facing.” I wonder if I first sew the unseamed sleeves onto each top, then would I stitch the inside and outside pieces together around the sleeve edge?
If you have any idea if that would work or not, I’d appreciate hearing from you!
I’m not sure how it would work with sleeves, I didn’t try that. They way I figured out the puzzle was to do a lot of pinning and some basting, so I could easily pull out if what I thought would work did not. So I would say give it a try with some muslin or cheap fabric and do some pinning and see what you get. I wish I could give you a definitive answer, but the sleeves will effect it somehow, I’m sure, I just don’t know how.
I think I decided against it, anyway — I think double sleeves on a fitted knit might not be very comfortable. I’ll just double the parts that wrap, and maybe the upper back, so as not to have to do facings or binding.
I am absolutely lovvvvving your baby wrap dress, but noticed that you’ve taken down your tutorials. Any estimate on when they’ll be back? I would love to make some for my baby due this summer!
Thanks,
mackenzie
Thank you for the nudge. I just updated the list on the side. Have fun!
Hi there, how do I get the pattern please? Love this dress!!
